Place the cue ball behind the head string. Pocket a numbered ball to keep your turn. The table remains open after the break.
The first legal pocket after the break assigns solids (1–7) or stripes (9–15).
Hit a ball from your group first. Pocket one from your group to shoot again.
A scratch, no contact or first contact with the wrong group gives the opponent ball in hand.
Clear all seven balls in your group, then legally pocket the 8-ball.
Pocketing the 8-ball early, scratching on the 8-ball or making illegal first contact on the deciding shot loses the match.
